Just Visiting
The main entrance to the power plant backs directly onto the visitor centre, an area with a number of functions if you're visiting the site:
Workshops and SeminarsMost of our workshops take place in the conference room of the visitor centre, although some are also located in the meeting hall positioned at the back of the solar base and others in some circumstances in the energy research centre. Our workshops are designed to help people get involved with renewable energy and to encourage them to embrace the industry. Public support and satisfaction is very important to us and we will do anything we can to help support anyone who wishes to learn from the technology in use.
Because a lot of the technology is also very new with some of the biggest companies providing us with equipment, we run professional seminars for businesses who wish to adopt the technology or smaller industries who are looking to invest into it. Seminars are run by professionals and are a valuable experience for anyone interested in the technology in use. |
Information and Guided ToursThe complex does offer guided tours with some of the experienced engineers working in the business centre who can show you around either privately or in a group around the main body of the complex, though special arrangements should be made if any of the tours wish to include some of the bases of the power divisions. Open tours are available but booking is preferable.
There is always information about the site available to anyone in the visitor centre. The main room underneath the viewing platform is dedicated to providing information to the public. There are correspondents who speak in these buildings too so any questions about what we do can be directed to them. Not only this, but we are very keen to encourage people into the engineering industry, without our skilled engineers we would not be where are today, so we run a range of programmes to help encourage people into the subject and to promote the study of science, technology, engineering and maths. There is also free advice on setting up micro renewable generation schemes including anything you need to know about solar, wind and biomass so you can begin to generate your own electricity renewably at home. So if you're looking for advice and guidance on anything, our visitor centre can supply. |
